UPDATE JAN 2015: This shop has since closed down
I popped into Mervyn Gers Ceramics on the weekend on the hunt for a salad platter. I didn’t find my platter but I did treat myself to two gorgeous large salad bowls and a trio of dipping bowls. There is a lovely selection of different ranges consisting of plates, bowls, jugs, mugs and platters.
Mervyn Gers grew up in a small village bordering the Kalahari in the Northern Cape of South Africa. The beauty, colours and textures of his childhood landscape as well an obsession with Istanbul and the East, inspires his work.
His Koi and Blue Willow set is really striking and you’ll easily spot the studio with its giant koi on the window fronts.
My tip for you… be sure to explore the back room which is full of seconds at discounted prices!

I love these – spotted a few items here in Durban, but must add the studio to my list.
