Cape Town

Thursday eve city happenings

Kate Davies

There’s lots on the go in Cape Town tomorrow evening so I thought I’d share a few highlights with you.

Kate Davies will be exhibiting all 365 images from her recently completed 365 A year in Infrared project, as well as launching a limited edition range of merchandise which will be available on the night and also on spree. Enjoy a glass of wine and take a walk through a year of daily photographs, taken in infrared. More info here.

Tomorrow is the last day to view the amazing 365 Postcards for ants exhibition by Lorraine Loots. 365 miniature watercolour paintings all with a Cape Town theme are on display at 6 Spin Street. More info here.

Michael of Chandler House has approached several talented Cape Town artists to meet him at his shop at 8am tomorrow morning so that they can collect a blank canvas.

They will need to return it to the gallery by 5pm that same day in time for the first visitors of First Thursdays. I am excited to see what an artist can produce in a day, working wet-on-wet, against the pressure of a sudden and looming deadline.

Artists that are taking part in this show include Lucie de Moyencourt, Mia Chaplin, Patricia Fraser, Ludwich Olivier and Niklas Wittenberg. More info here.

Just around the corner on Wale Street, you can visit The Fleet and see what they’ve been up to and take advantage of a 25-50% sale on selected items from Black Betty! More info here.

See the rest of the highlights for February’s First Thursdays here. Get out and explore the city!
