Robertson Wine Estates II

Esona
The next stop on our McGregor Media Tour was Esona which is a lovely boutique winery situated between Robertson and Bonnievale. After a warm welcome from owners, Rowan and Caryl, on their deck overlooking the Autumn coloured vineyards, we made our way down into their old cellar for a unique Taste-the-Difference wine tasting. We got to try different vintages of three of their wines as well as try their wines in different glasses. Yes, Riedel glasses are where it’s at! (Find out why, here)The wines were also paired with fruit preserves and Lindt chocolates, accompanied by music to match. Such a great experience.

Our dinner on Friday evening was sponsored by Rooiberg Wines which meant we got to sample their wines which had been perfectly paired to our three course dinner at Tebaldis, sigh… such is the life!

You’ll spot Rooiberg Wines on your way into Robertson from the Cape Town direction, you can’t miss their landmark giant red chair. They have a restaurant, bakery and of course a fully stocked wine boutique. Their wines are incredibly affordable and I stocked up on their Sauvignon Blanc. At R35 a bottle, it’s a steal!

McGregor Country Getaways arranged a fabulous media weekend away. We were treated to a wine pairing at Esona and Rooiberg Wines sponsored our wine for Friday dinner at Tebaldis. As always, the opinions & thoughts herein are my own.
