Today’s post highlights four Cape Town food spots that would make for awesome date nights. Each one offers something slightly different and unique. I haven’t been to any of these yet but they are absolutely on my to-visit list. If you decide to try them out before I do, please let us know what your experience was like.
If you and your partner enjoy a bit of fine dining and meeting new people, then a dinner at La Petite Mort might be just your thing. André and Morné offer a unique dining experience and invite guests into their home in the Bo Kaap every second Saturday. You get to enjoy a three-course meal with wine pairings in an intimate space.
A visit to the Deckhouse crab shack & BBQ is not ideal for a first date as apparently eating crabs is quite a messy affair and you will need to wear a plastic bib! However with views of Table Mountain, a lovely outdoor deck and a relaxed, casual ambiance, the Deckhouse is sure to make for a fun evening out. They serve up hearty portions of seafood in true American style.

Charango Grill & Bar on Bree is where you need to head if you’re in the mood for more of an edgy and cool city experience. The interiors by Bone Interior Design Studio are absolutely stunning. Raw concrete columns, brick walls, plush deep buttoned seats, copper accents and a beautiful mural by Faith 47 create an urban, moody setting. Expect a mix of fabulous tasting Peruvian and Japanese inspired dishes, otherwise known as Nikkei cuisine.

Lastly, if your partner is a fan of all things meat then a trip to the Hoghouse BBQ is a must. This industrial style restaurant in Ndabeni offers a Texan-style smokehouse experience. The menu is based on ‘low and slow’ style smoked meats, cooked over several hours which are served with a variety of side dishes. The Hoghouse is awaiting their liquor license so in the meanwhile you can bring your own alcoholic beverages.
