On trend: Velvet interiors

Plush Velvet
Perhaps you haven’t noticed but velvets are making their way into top hotels, restaurants and bars across the world and it looks like this trend is here to stay. This sumptuous fabric is being used for banquette seating, sofas, dining chairs, ottomans and more to create a luxurious appeal.

To get this look right, the furniture design needs to be contemporary and bold, round shapes are definitely the flavour of the day. Add metallic accents to up the glam factor too.

Here in Cape Town, Famke and Margot Molyneux have both incorporated this trend into their boutiques. And if you’re after a contemporary velvet sofa look no further than Klooftique, their Victoria Sofa looks amazing made up in a plush velvet.
