New design destination: Guild joins the Silo District

Guild Store, Silo District

The Silo District at the V&A Waterfront is set to be a top destination in Cape Town for both tourists and locals. Already the Silo Hotel is a buzz word and the much-anticipated Zeitz MOCAA is due to open in September. So it only makes sense that local design pioneers, Trevyn and Julian McGowan have opened up a flagship showroom in this new hot-spot.

The open-plan space is beautiful with all white surrounds, high ceilings and plenty of light pouring in. GUILD is home to their studio which will sell South African designer furniture, the Southern Guild Gallery which was previously situated in Woodstock and a brand new concept store.

The concept store is a visual delight and is full of covetable design pieces including fashion, jewellery, lifestyle and homeware products. Guild has worked together with some of South Africa’s leading designers to develop collaborative items that are unique to Guild. These limited-edition ranges add a fresh aspect to the local design scene.

Currently on display in the gallery is their Stellar Exhibition. This group show exhibits work by 23 of our biggest design names. Seeing so much incredible local design in one space is quite the feast.

So do yourself a favour and visit. Perhaps pop up up to the Silo Hotel rooftop afterwards for a cocktail and to take in the vista.
