Russia day 4…

How fabulous are these dolls? Created by top designers to celebrate Russian Vogue’s 10th Anniversary. Well known designers were asked to design a dress for a matrioshka, a traditional Russian doll. The designer’s sketches were realised by Russian craftsmen who hand painted and created these amazing 50cm tall dolls, which were then all auctioned for charity. If you’re a fashionista, I’m sure you’ll be able to guess a few of the designers…

DOLLS

Bronwyn’s fact of the day, ” Russian dolls and nesting eggs are sold everywhere – some are the typical rosy-cheeked babushkas, but you can also find sets of presidents’ heads, soccer stars, figures from Klimt paintings and cartoon characters.”
I think I’ll stick to the traditional ones thanks and of course any of these gorgeous designer dolls

Here are all the designers of the dolls, did you mange to guess any correctly?
Row 1: Burberry, Versace, Marc Jacobs
Row 2: Sonia Rykiel, Emilio Pucci, Blumarine
Row 3: Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren, Paul Smith
Row 4: Dolce & Gabbana, Alena Akhmadullina, Gucci

I love the designers takes on these dolls. I got Burberry right away but the others definitely make sense after I knew the designer. I love this whole series on Russia.

    Have a great weekend!
