Fornasetti love

I came across a rather fun home in Portugal where the owner clearly has a sense of humour and a love of colour and Fornasetti designs. It certainly looks like a lovely, relaxed home which definitely appeals to me, you can see more of it here.

Piero Fornasetti, whose designs you see featured in this home, was a Milanese painter, sculptor, interior decorator, engraver of books and a creator of more than 11 000 products! His style was full of creativity and whimsy and today his legacy lives on through his son Barnaba Fornasetti who continues to produce and revive the well known designs. The famous plates you see below are all from the T&V series which was inspired by an image of an enigmatic beauty found in an old French magazine. It began as set of six black and white decorated plates and continued to grow over the years until the series reached 350 different variations on the theme of the classic beauty! So incredible! I’d like to own one of these plates, which one to choose though?!

“So I dressed with remaining ceramics, furniture and objects; so I placed a message in each, a small story, at times ironic and obviously wordless, but audible to those who believe in poetry.” Piero Fornasetti

“It is said that my pieces are created using secret methods… I laugh up my sleeve… my only real secret is the rigor with which I work.” Piero Fornasetti
