Ages ago Dulux sent me some of their paint and I finally decided to get creative and try my hand at sprucing up some old glass jars. I tried out two different paint effects to create pretty vases. The first technique involved dipping the bottom of the jar into paint and gently creating an un-even layer of paint along the bottom of the jar. The trick is to not add too thick a layer of paint and then to hang the jar up with string over newspaper so that it can drip and dry well.
The second technique that I tried involved pouring a good dose of paint into the jar and then swirling the paint around to cover the whole inside of the jar. I then placed the jars upside down on an old cloth to dry. Move the jars every 15min to make sure they don’t stick to the cloth. After about 3 hours, you can turn your jar the right way round and let it finish drying. A useful hint, is to place another smaller vase inside the painted jar to put your flowers into so that the paint doesn’t get chipped.
For this DIY I used Dulux Wash ‘n Wear Luxurious Silk in Jade Clusters and Celtic Forest. I think they came out pretty well, perfect for a fresh summer look, what do you think?
