This past Saturday was one of those perfect sunny Winter’s days and I took a drive down the Hemel & Aarde Valley with my parents. The highlight was a visit to the Sumaridge Wine Estate where we tasted some of their wines and took a look at Guy du Toit’s bronze hare sculptures. There were some giant sized hares around the dam and smaller sculptures in the tasting room, all part of the Hermanus FynArts festival. Quite quirky and fun in their human resemblances, I loved the pair that looked like they were having a bit of a boxing session. I’m definitely keen to make a return trip to Sumaridge and enjoy a lunch in their cosy restaurant which has a lovely fireplace and the most incredible views of the valley.
