I recently received an email from NOVICA offering me a gift voucher which I kindly took them up on. After much deliberation I choose a lovely dusky pink silk scarf with a floral block print pattern handmade in India by Mridulika Menon Madiraju. Within 10 days, I received a beautifully wrapped package with a lovely handwritten note from Mridulika. I was thoroughly impressed with the speed of delivery and the scarf. The customs tax was a bit pricy but that’s always an issue with shopping internationally.
NOVICA is one of the leading fair trade artisan websites. They work with National Geographic to give talented artisans around the world a place to sell their products and express their creativity and provide them with access to the world market.
They work directly with artisans from the Andes, Bali & Java, Brazil, Central America, India, Mexico, Thailand and West Africa and the products range from jewellery and clothing, to accessories, home decor items and gifts. Each product features a detailed biography of the artist and a portrait photo which I think is just brilliant. It’s great to be able to put a face to a name and know who you’re buying from and know a bit of their personal story. Do hop over and give them your support!
These are some of my favourite items from various artisans on NOVICA…
