We took a trip out to Darling on the weekend which was probably not the best idea considering the heatwave we’re experiencing! Make sure your guesthouse has a pool if you visit in Summer so that you can escape the heat. There’s not that much to do in Darling but there are a definitely a few highlights you shouldn’t miss. The obvious one being a visit to Evita se Perron to see one of Evita’s legendary shows. This I still need to do.
Three other highlights which we experienced this weekend were…
Darling Brew – for a beer tasting. Try their delicious cheese & meat platter too
The Darling Wine Shop – to stock up on some great local wines
Darling Olives – for an olive tasting which consists of trying their various olive oils, olives sauces, olives, wine and more. We departed heavily laden with all sorts of products
Next time round I’d like to do lunch at Hilda’s kitchen at Groote Post Wines Estate and check out The Orchid Shop at Duckitt Nurseries. We really enjoyed supporting some of the local Darling businesses and since this little town is just 75km from Cape Town, it’s definitely worth a visit.
