I love the look of chalkboards, they look cool plus they allow for creativity and playfulness. But let’s be honest, they are a real nuisance to maintain! I have one in my office and I haven’t changed the quote on it for a few months now because I know it took forever to do neatly. Every time you make a mistake, you wipe it off with a wet cloth, only to find that when it dries it leaves a messy white mark. I’m sure you’ve had this experience before too?

So I’m really keen to try out IdeaPaint which is brand new to South Africa. This premium whiteboard paint transforms almost any surface into a dry-erase surface and can be applied to smooth surfaces of any colour, shape and size. It’s available in white, black and clear so the possibilities are endless.

It’s applied with a roller in a single coat and has a slight gloss effect so it’s not matt like blackboard paint. It’s perfect for kids bedrooms, classrooms, work environments, kitchens… the list goes on.

IdeaPaint comes in two different sizes which cover 4.6 square meters and 18 square meters. Unfortunately there isn’t a smaller size in case you just want to do a small DIY but director Karlien de Goede assures us, “All or nothing, but you’ll want to paint everything!”
