Braamfontein is an up and coming area in Joburg that is becoming a real creative hub. There’s a great student buzz due to Wits University being around the corner and they have the ever popular Neighbourgoods Market every Sunday. You’ll find a variety of interesting shops and of course a great selection of coffee shops and eateries… Father, Motherland, Doubleshot, Daleahs, Post Breakfast Lunch and more! I spent the afternoon there recently and visited Doubleshot as well as Daleahs.
Doubleshot coffee & tea is a lovely little spot which roasts coffee and blends tea in store. It’s situated on a busy corner which a great place to sit and do a bit of people watching. The space is inviting and the coffee is great of course!

I had a delicious lunch at Daleahs which is a lovely eatery on De Beer Street, you can’t miss it with its bold green facade. The interior is cosy with a quirky charm and laid back atmosphere. They serve breakfast all day which always makes me happy.

I love Braamfontein. I lived there as a student, away from home (Durban) for the first time and I made some of my best memories there. Though unfortunately many of these great establishments were not there 13 years ago.

Hi Viveshni, I can imagine it would have been a great place to live as a student! Definitely one of the more quirky and interesting spots in Joburg.

It’s so interesting to see all the beautiful places you visited in Jozi — the only time I ever see them is in magazines! 44 Stanley looks truly amazing!
