Headboard 101: Tufted styles

Tufted headboards

I hope you all had a lovely, relaxing weekend. Speaking of relaxation, today’s post is all about beautiful bedrooms. Continuing with my Headboard 101 series, today we’re taking a look at Deep Buttoned or Tufted headboards as they’re referred to in the States.

This is a more traditional and formal look and lends itself to more grown up, elegant bedrooms as you can see from most of these examples. However if you pair a deep buttoned headborad with the right accessories it can look fabulous in any contemporary home. Here are a few gorgeous examples I came across…

We replaced our wooden headboard with a deep buttoned headboard…it was the best move. It is soooo comfortable and looks soft and bedroomy, compared to wood which I found very harsh and masculine. PS… every now and then the cats want to clamber up the deep buttoned headboard…

Marisa… I think my cat is definitely going to do the same! Mmm I better think carefully about what fabric I choose x

These are all such beautiful examples of tufted/deep buttoned headboards. I love how versatile this style can be, as you have shown so well.

I found a citronella based spray at pet shops, it appears to be all natural and it makes the upholstered furniture less attractive for clambering, as long as one regularly (maybe every 2 weeks) sprays it onto the favorite furrnitures 🙂

Lol my cat tried to ‘ remove’ the deep buttons 🙂 Put gentle discouragement did the trick and he is no longer fascinated by it.

Love the deep buttoned headboards, these are all so lovely, definitely a look I would go for…can you recommend any great upholsterers in Cape Town?

      Hi Yvonne
It really depends on what you want to get made up. I’m currently getting a headboard made up by Ashrafs Designs. I’ll let you know how it turns out! You can also look for a fabric company in your area and ask them who they recommend.
