Last weekend we had an early morning breakfast at Grind for Truth Coffee and took in the sights and sounds of the inner city. The coffee shop is situated at the Prestwich Memorial Visitors Centre which you’ll find on the fan walk at the beginning of Green Point.
What you probably don’t know is that the Prestwich Memorial is built on land that has officially been recognised as a heritage site, marking an essential period of South Africa’s history. The aim of the centre is to tell the story of District 1 – dating back to pre-colonial times, through slavery, forced removals, post-apartheid developments up until the present day. (You can read more about this here) This wasn’t our reason for visiting though, a good coffee was actually the main criteria!
Grind for Truth Coffee offers fantastic coffee and a great selection of light meals and breakfast. The area is also surrounded by beautiful trees and feels like a lush oasis amongst the urban bustle. I’m already looking forward to another visit.
