I’m Melissa Louise. I’m an Interior Designer at Zana and I am the author/editor and drive behind Melissa Louise Lifestyle and Interiors. I was terribly excited when asked to contribute to the Lanalou Style blog and couldn’t wait to share my most recent lust have with you!
I am totally obsessed with Nordic and Scandinavian design at the moment. I love how they use texture and pattern within monochromatic spaces, and sometimes add a hint of natural colour through the use of timber furniture details and woven baskets.
Today I am going to focus on the use of woven baskets within interiors. In your home woven baskets can be used for nearly everything, general storage, firewood, blankets and even children’s toys.
I find a cluster of baskets most effective within a space, provided you have the space! Play with scale, this will help draw the eye without making the space seem too cluttered.
I have recently launched a range of hand woven baskets at the PRESENTspace pop up store at the wellness centre in Kloof Street, Cape Town – I wasn’t kidding when I said I was obsessed!
Woven baskets are also trending in fashion, I love how over-sized baskets have become the perfect accessory. The baskets in my range can double up as fashion or interior accessories. They also come in a range of colours.
