Yesterday evening I went to a lovely showcase put together by Orms Print Room & Framing. I’m sure many of you know that Orms is the place to go for photographic equipment in Cape Town, but did you know that they also offer a wide range of printing solutions and services? They shared some really clever DIY ideas with us, showing us how to transform tired decor pieces with simple and effective printing. It’s amazing what you can create with minimal effort and a small budget!
These are some of the ideas that I thought were really great, I can’t wait to give them a try…
1 | Create an interesting headboard from an old door and then get Orms Print Room & Framing to print a design onto it for you.
2 | Print some of your favourite designs onto canvas and them stretch them over embroidery hoops. Great for an art wall display.
3 | This was my favourite DIY, they printed a beautiful old map onto cork and made a pinboard using an old frame. I was amazed at how well the design prints onto cork.
4 | Print out a design or image onto a poster size, simply attach artgrips to the top and bottom and voila, instant artwork!
5 | Take some rubber farmyard animals, cut a slit halfway through, big enough to hold a photo. Give them a spray paint and that’s it. A clever idea to display photos in a kid’s room or even name tags for a table setting.
6 | Build your own stackable shelves or use an existing old unit, simple add printed vinyl to various sections.
7 | Loved this personalised chalkboard. Buy some supawood and paint with chalkboard paint. Then get Orms Print Room & Framing to print a design onto it. So effective!
