A highlight of our McGregor Media Tour was visiting many of the wine estates in the area and of course sampling their wines! First up was a visit to Van Loveren Family Vineyards just outside Robertson. Van Loveren is a great spot for families as they have so much on offer… hiking, mountain bike trails, birding, wine tastings & pairings and a lush garden setting for their restaurant.
Their beautiful tasting room is spacious with a contemporary simplicity. I love the fact that Van Loveren prides themselves on providing affordable tastings and wines which make their wines accessible to everyone.
We’re wine lovers not wine fundis!
The next stop on our tour was Viljoensdrift which is literally just down the road from Van Loveren. We enjoyed a wine tasting and picnic on board their boat while we cruised leisurely down the Breede River. Winter sunshine, beautiful views and great wines… what more could you ask for on a Friday afternoon?
Viljoensdrift has a deli where you can choose from a variety of cheeses, cold meats, patés and breads to create your own picnic hamper. Pair this with some of their wines and then relax on their deck or on the grassy banks of the river. Definitely a great idea for a lovely, lazy afternoon with friends.

McGregor Country Getaways arranged a fabulous media weekend away. We were treated to a wine & food pairing at Van Loveren and a boat cruise, picnic & wine tasting at Viljoensdrift. As always, the opinions & thoughts herein are my own.
