One of the perks of working for yourself is being able to say yes to wonderful mid-week activities and getting to escape ones office to soak up some winter sunshine. A small group of us foodies and wine lovers were invited to Jason’s Hill which is a small family run wine estate situated at the foot of the beautiful Slanghoek Mountains.
We were hosted by the lovely Ivy Du Toit who is one of South Africa’s pioneer women winemaker’s and got to find out about the farm’s history and Ivy’s passion for wine making. Jason’s Hills’ wines have won numerous awards and are seriously incredible value for money. We all went home loaded with boxes of wine which goes to show how much we enjoyed their wine!
After a fantastic wine tasting and a tour of the cellar, we enjoyed a hearty lunch in their restaurant which serves delicious bistro style food in a relaxed and casual setting. Think fabulous home made pies, gourmet burgers and of course tempting sweet treats.
Jason’s Hill is less than an hour’s drive away from Cape Town, en route to Worcester and is well worth a visit. Why not make a day trip of it and explore the Slanghoek Valley and Breedekloof Wine Route too?
