New to Cape Town’s foodie scene is Homage 1862. The restaurant is set in a lovely Victorian double storey complete with balcony and broekie lace on a quieter stretch of Loop Street. Stepping inside you’ll find a contemporary interior with raw exposed brickwork and an open-plan kitchen which is the heart of the space. At the back of the restaurant there’s a stunning atrium with velvet banquette seating and a generous amount of plants to bring the outdoors in.

We had lunch in their atrium last week and had a fantastic experience. The menu is seasonal and changes regularly, featuring wholesome food with unusual flavours and mostly cooked on fire. I had their salmon main which was super delicious but I found the portion too small for the price, I was still peckish afterwards. Our waiter was also a bit unsure of the menu but hopefully that will improve with time.

The upstairs section has a very different feel, more laid back and lounge-like. In the future they’ll be holding music events and film screenings in this space, so keep an eye on their facebook page for details.

Hi Megan, thank you for the compliment! I use a Fuji X-E1 camera and have 2 lenses… just a standard zoom lens 18 -55 and then a fixed Zeis lens 1.8/32
