Palm trees, cocktails and beach views, yes please! Chinchilla Café & Bar is the latest addition to the Camps Bay promenade and with its rooftop setting it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a sundowner.
Stepping into Chinchilla, one instantly feels as though you’ve been whisked away to an exotic beach bar on a tropical island. They’ve created a wonderfully laid-back lounge area with café style seating as well as comfy sofas and armchairs. The ambiance is stylish yet understated with a boho twist. The latte roof and basket lights add that essential rustic element and plenty of plants (although faux) enhance the tropical feel.
The crowd is an eclectic mix of young and old, locals, sun kissed tourists, tired beach goers and those wanting to impress and with this gorgeous interior you can imagine that Instagram photos are the flavour of the day!
A friend and I visited last week, just in time to catch the sunset and enjoy some sundowners. We tried two of their signature cocktails which were both delicious and paired them with a few starters and shared a main. The Beef carpaccio and Prawn cocktail were winners and we were pleasantly surprised at the generous size of the starters. The ambiance was great with Café del Mar style chilled music, what a fantastic mid-week escape! On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays you can expect live DJ sets from sunset onwards.
You’ll find Chinchilla in The Promenade Building, directly above Bilboa.
