The village of McGregor has a charm and a personality like no other and perhaps one of the reasons is because it’s a destination in and of its own. To get to McGregor you’ll need to head to Robertson and then turn off and drive 20km further on the ‘Road to Nowhere’ which it’s fondly known as. McGregor makes for an ideal getaway to escape the traffic and busy city lifestyle. Here you’ll have the opportunity to experience wide open spaces, beautiful nature and slower living. And yes, I absolutely endorse Slow Living!
To get a true feel for the village, I always recommend a longer stay so that you can unwind and take in all of the various offerings. You’ll soon discover that the shops and restaurants are not open daily or 24/7 and so you really do need more time. Perhaps this is a clever marketing ruse to get you to linger and fall in love with magical McGregor!
For a relaxed and luxurious self-catering stay, I highly recommend the charming This thatched cottage sleeps 6 and has beautiful views of the mountain and an incredible garden. The cottage really has everything you could need for a comfortable and fuss-free stay. I recently spent a few nights here and seriously did not want to pack my bags and leave. I loved the stylish decor, vintage touches, pops of cheerful yellow throughout and the attention to detail. Do yourself a favour and
