Rest and time in nature were calling and so I found myself retreating to a beautiful haven in the Hermitage Valley. The Hacienda is situated on Fazenda, a working farm, which lies on the outskirts of Swellendam and borders the Marloth Nature Reserve.
This luxurious self-catering getaway consists of two en-suite bedrooms and an open plan dining and living area, orientated around a central pool. The invitation here is to truly relax and soak up the natural beauty on offer. Just watching the light and shadows shift and move throughout the day was a beautiful meditation in itself.
The decor is effortlessly stylish with just the right amount of flavour and personality. Attention to detail is evident throughout from the luxurious towels and throws, to the thoughtful choice of books to browse, even a lit candle to welcome my arrival, infusing the space with a heavenly fragrance. I loved the bold accents of colour in the bedrooms which invite you to retreat into their arms and leave the sunlit warmth of the courtyard.
The Hacienda opens to the most magnificent views of the mountain and also feels private at the same time. Just a short stroll and one can access the nature reserve and immerse yourself in nature. After just two nights here, I felt tangibly more spacious, calm and refreshed.
The beauty of Fazenda, is that it’s just a short 7 minute drive to the heart of Swellendam and so one can have the best of both worlds.
