If you’re looking for a relaxing and laidback farm style escape then Kapok Cottage might be just what you’re looking for. This converted hay barn from the early 1900’s is nestled between vineyards, underneath the foothills of the majestic Arangieskop mountains.
I enjoyed a wonderful three night stay at Kapok Cottage which is located in a rural farming area and just a short 15min drive from the town of Robertson.
I appreciated the personal touches and decor which gives the cottage a unique character and made me feel at home. The cottage sleeps 4 and has two bedrooms (double and twin), each with its own en-suite bathroom. Kapok Cottage can be booked in conjunction with the main farm house, Asch House, and the Garden Cottage sleeping 12 in total. A great option for a larger family or a friends’ getaway.
If you’re an avid hiker, you might want to add on the Arangieskop Hike which is 21km 2-day trail in the nearby Dassieshoek Nature Reserve. The overnight hut is said to be one of the best in the country. It’s definitely one to be prepared for with a certain level of fitness. From nature and birding, to wine and foodie destinations, the Robertson valley really has a lot to offer. Hop over to the Robertson Tourism website to explore further. From here the neighbouring towns of McGregor, Montagu and Swellendam are just a hop, skip and a jump away.
