Our last stop on our trip to Turkey was Bitez, a beautiful seaside village just outside Bodrum. The bay is lined with small shops and cafés, each with their own sun loungers offering free wifi and a spot to soak up the sun. Citrus groves and fields are dotted in between the village which gives it a lovely rural feel. Bitez makes for a fantastic base and from here you can explore the nearby towns like Bodrum, Yalikavak, Turgetreis and more.
We visited just before the start of the summer season and so it was blissfully peaceful. The local shop owners were complaining that tourism had taken a dive especially after all the recent attacks which is a real problem as their businesses depend almost solely on tourism. Such a sad state and hopefully this will change. Here’s to more travel and exploring other cultures. Hope you enjoy the travel inspiration…
The restaurant below, Bitez Koftecisi, was our favourite. Fantastic food and atmosphere!
We took a day trip to Turgetreis, a neighbouring seaside village to explore their market, always a fun experience but their fresh veggie and spice market was the real highlight. Wow, what a pity we don’t get fresh produce like this here in Cape Town.

Hi Kerry
We stayed at the Pinarhan Studio Hotel in Bitez.
The rooms are fairly basic but we really enjoyed our stay there. The rooms are all centred around the pool and the hotel is so close to the beach front. A few minutes walk away which is great. Super friendly staff, it has that family feel.
