I recently enjoyed a delightful, whirlwind visit to Prince Albert in the Great Karoo. My first night was spent camping just outside the town with my tent illuminated by the full moon and starry skies, followed by two luxurious nights at Dennehof Karoo Guesthouse where I sank into the comfort of sumptuous bedding and all the creature comforts one could ask for. Dennehof embodies that quintessential Karoo farm feeling and has eight beautiful en suite bedrooms, all individually styled.
The guesthouse is run by a dedicated and attentive husband and wife team who are passionate about creating a restful stay for their guests. I really enjoyed the simple and understated elegance and could happily have spent many more afternoons on their gorgeous stoep with book in hand, savouring the peaceful ambiance. Inga and Albert also love providing their guests with all the local must-dos to ensure a full Prince Albert experience. Despite the small size of this town, it has lot to offer and the surrounding mountains are breathtaking.
Breakfasts at Dennehof are fabulous and either served out in the garden or in the conservatory on cooler mornings. Good to know ~ you don’t have to be an overnight guest to come and enjoy a breakfast here. Make sure you call ahead and request a table (dependant on how busy they are).
If you’re longing for a Karoo getaway be sure to include Prince Albert and a stay at the lovely Dennehof Karoo Guesthouse.
