Treat yourself to a stay at the beautiful Chalcedony Guest House in McGregor and you’ll feel your body naturally unwind and ease into relaxation. I had to look up the meaning of ‘Chalcedony’ as I had never heard the word before…
Chalcedony is a form of quartz in a microcrystalline structure which can be polished into a smooth gemstone. Chalcedony is a stone that is known for being nurturing and promoting goodwill between people. It is also closely linked to the moon and is considered calming to be around.
With this in mind, it’s no wonder that the owners chose this name for their restful retreat which is situated in a quiet pocket of the village and bordering the Krans Nature Reserve. The property offers two fully equipped, self catering cottages which are immersed in a lush and abundant garden. The cottages both have use of the shared swimming pool. The property really lends itself to rest and renewal and once you arrive and settle in, you really don’t want to leave at all. I can imagine it being the perfect place to celebrate a special birthday or milestone where friends and family can share the two cottages and have exclusive use of the entire property. Being able to accommodate 10 with plenty of space makes this a fantastic option to do just this.
Both cottages have thatched roofs and hold the typical McGregor charm and feeling of heritage. On the inside, you’ll find the interiors are tastefully furnished with stylish and contemporary touches. Every comfort is sure to be met and you’ll love the thoughtful touches.
Karee Cottage is a 4 sleeper home with an inviting, warm living area which leads onto a patio overlooking the gardens and pool.
Krans Cottage is a 6 sleeper home with a spacious living area that flows onto a patio with spectacular views of the veld and village with the mountains in the distance as a backdrop.
Join me as I take you on a tour of Krans Cottage and you’ll soon see why this is such a unique and special place for a getaway. McGregor is just over a 2 hour drive from Cape Town and is a wonderful place for a city break. Come and discover its magic for yourself.
