Last weekend I was invited to stay at the Oude Werf Hotel, right in the heart of Stellenbosch and so as you can imagine we had a busy time trying out all the local spots and soaking up the outdoor lifestyle. First up was a late lunch at Café Blanc de Noir on the Brenaissance Wine & Stud Estate just on the outskirts of Stellenbosch. This cafe has the most magical setting, it is literally nestled into an orchard with a stream running in front of it and has beautiful views of vineyards and mountains in the distance.
As the name suggests, the decor consists of a classic black and white palette with a rustic appeal. They have an indoor section which overlooks an open-plan kitchen and a lovely large shaded outdoor deck area. They are open for lunch and dinner (you can see their times here) and have a fairly small menu. They mostly offer wood-oven pizzas as well as wraps, salads and tasty sweet treats. You can sample their own wines or try the local beer on tap. Our food was really tasty and the service was friendly but not that attentive, having said that, I’ll certainly visit again! It’s really the perfect spot for a lazy weekend lunch.
