On Sunday we stopped over in Montagu which is a historic town with loads of character and country charm, nestled in a valley at the foot of the Langeberg mountains. We spent the night at The Vineyard Country House, a lovely guest house set on a working grape, olive and apricot smallholding. Our room had it’s own patio and overlooked the vineyard and swimming pool which looked very inviting. If only it were Summer!
The guest house was peaceful and quiet and really a very welcome treat after a busy week. Apart from the attention to detail and beautifully decorated surroundings, the highlight would have to be the breakfast. Everything was homemade, lovingly prepared, perfectly presented and above all, absolutely delicious. The owners are real foodies and have a passion for local produce and good food, what a happy discovery. I would highly recommend a stay here!
