4th Ave, Parkhurst

Parkhurst is a lovely, small suburb in Joburg with a real village atmosphere. The key attraction to the area is 4th Avenue which is a long street lined with amazing restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, interior stores and more. 4th Avenue has an eclectic mix of old buildings along side brand new contemporary ones which only adds to the street’s character.

It’s best to explore the area on foot and give yourself enough time to pop into all the various shops. And of course allow some time for a bite and to enjoy the  sidewalk café culture. This busy street really has so many top restaurants and great coffee shops that you’re spoilt for choice; The Wolfpack, Possum’s, Craft, The Squires Loft, Nice, Vovo Telo, Melissas and more.

On my first evening in Joburg, we decided to have dinner at the popular Craft on 4th Avenue. It was jam packed and bustling and the food was delicious. I returned for a brunch a few days later and so that I could take some photos of the cool interior…

I’ll be sharing some of 4th Avenue’s lovely interior and fashion boutiques in the next few days but here are a few more photos to give you an idea of the street itself…

Hi Amanda, Thanks so much for your lovely comment! It always makes me happy to hear that readers are enjoying my SA posts. Hopefully you get to visit visit SA often too 🙂

  2. Oh I am so enjoying your posts on the Jozi districts. My husband’s family used to live in Parkhurst. Love those off street shops as opposed to your normal mall. It has such a village feel to it – lot more personalized as well. Reminds me of my late mom’s very favourite soapie – 7de Laan.

Absolutely! It’s the village feel that really appeals to me too. And of course the wonderful choice of coffee shops where you can soak up some sunshine and conversation 😉
