Inside Maboneng: street style

Maboneng Precinct

I recently visited The Maboneng Precinct on my trip to Joburg and loved what I saw, what a great example of urban renewal. This edgy, hip neighbourhood on the eastern side of the Johannesburg CBD was a no-go area area until a few years ago. What was once a derelict industrial area, has now been privately developed and is home to a number of independent restaurants, retail stores, loft apartments as well as a cinema, hotel and the fabulous market at Arts on Main.

Maboneng, meaning ‘Place of Light’, is a such a vibrant and dynamic area that really comes alive on the weekends. As you can imagine I took loads of photos… so I’ll be sharing more with you in the next few days.

I’d definitely recommend you take a walking tour or hire a bike to discover the area and all of its amazing street art.
