Yesterday I wrote about The Trading Company and after a personal tour of this beautiful shop by owner Abigail Bisogno, we got to enjoy lunch at Bertus Basson’s restaurant. Wow, what a foodie feast! This was my first visit to Spice Route and I had no idea there was so much on offer.
The Spice Route is completely different to any other wine estate I’ve experienced so far. Instead of having just one restaurant and perhaps a deli or store run by the farm itself, Spice Route has hand-picked a selection of artisan producers who each run their own own establishment on the farm.
You’ll find DV Chocolate, CBC Brewery, Wilderers Distillery, La Grapperia pizzeria, Richard Bosman’s charcuterie, Bertus Basson’s restaurant, Brenda’s Deli, Red Hot Glass, The Trading Company and of course Spice Route wines and their Tasting Room.
So as you can imagine, there really is plenty to discover at Spice Route which makes for a fantastic day-trip destination. I didn’t have enough time to fully explore, so there will have to be a next time soon! In the meanwhile here are some images to give you an idea and to hopefully tempt you into visiting.
