I’m busy day dreaming of having a wood stove in our house but sadly there really isn’t space for one. They are a fantastic heat source and more efficient than an open fireplace. There are loads of different styles, from more traditional cast iron stoves to modern steel ones. If you have an old fireplace that doesn’t work, you can of course fit the stove into the recess, alternatively you would need to have it free standing. The floating styles are great for a contemporary space.
Be sure to shop around too. We found that the same model was cheaper at Buco than Megamaster and yet the flues were cheaper at Megamaster. So do your research and keep warm!
How breathtaking is this space below with its floating GyroFocus and incredible wood workmanship? You can view more of the space designed by Snøhetta over here.
Accessible via a 1.5km nature trail, this public educational space was funded by the Wild Reindeer Foundation to serve as an observation room for the creatures. The Tverrfjellhytta Wild Reindeer Pavilion is situated in the Dovrefjell National Park, high in the Norwegian mountains.
