What to look forward to at Design Indaba 2018

Design Indaba 2017

The annual Design Indaba Conference and Festival begins today and runs until the 23rd of Feb at the Artscape Theatre Centre. As usual there are a number of design talks taking place, presented by industry heavyweights. The conference tickets are fairly pricey but don’t let that stop you from visiting the Design Indaba and experiencing the exhibitions and creativity on offer.

I’m looking forward to checking out the Emerging Creatives Exhibition which showcases the work of 40 top rising stars in the creative industries, from young designers to recent graduates in any creative discipline. This is always a highlight for me.

The Most Beautiful Object in South Africa Exhibition features 10 objects that have been nominated by the public – but which design deserves to take the title? Examine each nomination up close at the Artscape Theatre and cast your votes before the winner is announced on the 23rd of February. Take a sneak peak here.

And then on top of that there’s the Nightscape Festival happening on Thursday and Friday evening on the Artscape Piazza.  You can expect a curated selection of live music, performance art, installations, exhibitions, gourmet street food, a pop-up restaurant by Bertus Basson and four film premieres. It sounds amazing so be sure to book your tickets.
