I recently spent a night at a stunning boutique guest house in Swellendam. With only three suites on offer, De Companjie Heritage House is incredibly luxurious and intimate and feels like an absolute haven – especially when you’ve just come from the urban rush of a city. Dropping into the quiet of Swellendam and checking into De Companjie was bliss. The interior has been artfully put together by owner and interior stylist, Marilouise. Think sumptuous textiles, bold dramatic colours and an eclectic mix of old and new.
Each suite has its own private entrance from the street and then leads out onto a deck, with views of the mountains, and the lush courtyard, complete with splash pool and lounging area. Breakfast is served in their restaurant or the courtyard and is definitely a treat to look forward to! The restaurant is open to the public from Thursday to Monday from 6pm for dinner.
Swellendam has so much to offer and just in case you need some extra convincing, hop over to my Swellendam guide here.
If you’re in the mood for staying somewhere a little closer to nature, then be sure to check our their farm cottages (here and here) – the views are breathtaking!
