I recently escaped to Swellendam for a mini-break and to take some time out just to Be. Taking part in the Saturday Park Run with all the locals and then popping down to the Country Market for a coffee and to buy fresh sourdough bread and veggies, were just a few of the highlights. I discovered Rooiklip Nursery which has an incredible selection of aloes and succulents (a must-visit for plant lovers) and enjoyed shopping at Seonae Eco Shop.
I was thrilled to be offered a stay at the gorgeous Schoone Oordt Country House and happily soaked up the warm hospitality and old world charm. The magnificent Victorian exterior, lush gardens and sounds of trickling fountains create a magical setting for this boutique hotel.
On arrival a beautiful complimentary afternoon tea awaits with delectable scones and baked treats which sets the tone for your stay. The food served at Schoone Oordt is really exceptional and breakfasts are a 3-course affair in the stunning conservatory. I’d go back just for the homemade granola, it’s that good!
Having a fireplace in my suite was an absolute luxury and kept me cosy along with my pile of books in the evenings. Schoone Oordt is situated in an ideal location for exploring the town and many of the best restaurants and coffee shops are all in easy walking distance. Hop over here to see my thoughts on where to eat and what to do in Swellendam.
Thank you to the team at Schoone Oordt for making my stay so wonderful!
