You’ll find Hartenberg Wine Estate on the slopes of the Bottelary Hills bordering Stellenbosch. I recently visited this family run estate with a friend and we were treated to a superb wine tasting and hearty lunch. We visited on a cold, wet winter’s day, so the cosy tasting room, fireplace and amazing red wine was actually the perfect escape. Being more of a white wine fan I really enjoyed tasting their various reds and learning more about the different characteristics. Hartenberg is known for their outstanding, award wining shiraz wines but they also produce some fantastic whites.
I can imagine that Hartenberg must be very popular in summer. They have beautiful lawns and plenty of shady spots with a kid’s play area too. They offer summer picnic baskets which are apparently amazing, booking is essential. So a picnic here is definitely making its way onto my summer wishlist. Here are a few photos from our outing, thanks to Hartenberg and their lovely team for a wonderful visit.
