Last week I featured the lovely and today I want to share a bit more about their neighbours. Together they make up Die Handelshuis which you’ll find along the R45 between Paarl and Franschhoek. I love the old buildings and werf with its rustic, laid back feel reminiscent of a Karoo farm.
For breakfast, lunch and nibbles, Ou Meul farmstall totally fits the bill. Forget about banting and try their famous pies and tempting baked goods.
Round the back, you’ll find Die Gieter which sells pot plants, succulents and cacti as well as a selection of decor and gifting all with a botanical theme. It’s a tiny little shop but jam packed with beautiful goodies.
Isn’t the stoep just gorgeous? This is where you’ll find Smith’s Interiors who have a selection of homeware, decor and furniture.
And lastly, in case you missed my post on you’ll find them in the barn where you’ll probably be greeted by one of their two gentle dogs – I love establishments that have a resident pet, don’t you? Barn & Werf is a treasure trove of collectibles and antiques with impressive lighting and chandeliers. They also stock a selection of high quality locally produced items which enhances their offering.
So the next time you’re in the Paarl/Franschhoek area, make a note to visit Die Handelshuis and soak up that countryside ambience.
