Every time I meander off the N2 into the Elgin Valley I discover something special and South Hill definitely fits the bill. You’ll find this wine estate just seven and a half kilometers along Valley Road which makes it easily accessible and a great option for a Cape Town day trip.

We popped in for an impromptu wine tasting and sampled their superb wines whilst enjoying all the eye-candy. The restaurant also acts as an art gallery and is beautifully curated with work from local artists. Currently they also have some fun barrel artwork on display. After eyeing all the platters and dishes being served, next time round I’m definitely booking for lunch! They also have a guesthouse and cottage which would make a great base for exploring more of the Elgin Valley.
