Welcome to 2018

Arniston Beach

Happy New Year friends! I hope you’ve all had a good end of year break and are ready for the year ahead whatever it may bring. I had a fantastic holiday and discovered some amazing local gems, so stay tuned for those posts coming soon. I’ll be starting off with my Elgin Valley discoveries tomorrow.

With the mass of end of year festivities, launches and parties, it’s not surprising that January is off to a relaxed start.
Here’s a quick round up of events and happenings this month in and around Cape Town…

Sign up for an Edible Mushroom Cultivation Workshop with mushroom guru Gary Goldman on the 13th of January or why not book your own Sunset Cocktail Experience for a group of friends?

The Studio H food design team will be hosting a series of three pop-up Waterless Dinners on 23, 24 & 25 January. The dinners will be cooked using salt tolerant crops, inspired by the studio’s speculative water project S/Zout that explores the use of sea water in agriculture. There will only 87 tickets available in total, which is the amount of water (in litres) one person is allowed to use per day. All profits will be donated to Veld and Sea. More info here.

For the music lovers, head to Elgin to see The Parlotones at Paul Cluver on the 13th, to De Waal Park for a free concert by The Rudimentals on the 21st or to the Up The Creek Festival on the 25th or the Origin Festival from 26 till 28 Jan.

If you’re into trail running then visit my What’s On page for a list a fun wine farm runs.

Happy January!
