On a relaxing weekend away in the Breede River Valley, we got to hear about the Ou Stokery gin bar & tap room which is the home of Old N1 Gin. This happens to be one of our absolute go to local gins, so we were excited to visit. One doesn’t expect to even find craft gins out in the countryside so this added to its appeal and our curiosity!
Situated just outside Rawsonville in an old shed-like building with a traditional red roof is the Ou Stokery which means ‘Old Distillery’. The interior is cosy with a rustic feel and a selection of deli items to tempt you. This opens out onto a covered outdoor section and a huge lawn with a jungle gym, perfect for keeping the kids entertained. The ambiance is relaxed and down-to-earth with burgers and pizzas being the flavour of the day.
We didn’t get to try anything on their food menu but we were really impressed with both the gin and the beer tasting. Who can say no to sipping gin cocktails in the afternoon sunshine? So if you’re a gin lover, you’ll definitely want to add this to your weekend itinerary when you’re next in the area. Cheers!

What could be better on a hot day — those glasses with condensation dripping down are seriously tempting!!
