The balmy weather this last weekend called for an al fresco outing and so we headed straight to Chalk & Cork. This wine bar and tapas restaurant on vibrant Kloof Street has been going for 3 years now and is still as popular as ever. Their buzzing courtyard draws walkers by in and as you can imagine it’s a great spot for lovely summer evenings too.
The interior is simple with a few quirky elements, with most of the seating happening outdoors. They also have an upstairs area which is ideal for private functions. The menu boasts a fantastic selection of tapas and their portion sizes are perfect for sharing. With their delicious flavours and unusual combinations, we greedily gobbled up our tapas in no time. They also offer pizzas and their flourless dark chocolate cake with vanilla cream & marmalade is out of this world!
All of their dishes are served on beautiful handmade ceramic platters which just adds that extra touch. The service was excellent and the food arrived incredibly quickly, it gets a definite ‘yes’ from me.
