These stunning teracotta plates caught my eye this week, the colours are spot on and I love the earthy feel to them. Made by Vorster & Braye in collaboration with Couth.
If you’re in Cape Town this weekend, be sure to head down to Decorex to visit 100% Clay. This exhibition will bring leading local handmade ceramics to the fore and showcase the work of approximately 20 ceramicists – including Vorster & Braye. All the ceramicists participating in 100% Clay must present only one bowl, one jug, one cup and one plate. Not to be missed!
Klooftique have just launched their online store and these velvet Butterfly Chairs are stealing the show! I would love to have one in the corner of my office.
The Bijou Table is a new design from OKHA and produced here in Cape Town from mirror polished brass and tinted glass is a real showstopper. “The effect designer Adam Court has achieved with this unique piece is of fine jewellery, like a gemstone set in precious metal.” – I so agree.
Mariëtte Kotzé is a Cape Town based artist whose work I’m really drawn to at the moment. Her pieces are fluid and captivating. You can view more of her work over here.
“The focus of my work is on the ephemeral concept of Time: a transient moment is captured on the paper or lense surface, where ink and various translucent fluids are intermixed. The results of these reactions are then digitally captured, recording the movement of the pigmented molecules breaking up, each with its own distinct character. My work questions photography by capturing images that can never be created again, while exploring process and repetition as meditative instruments in art making.”
