The next time you’re in Hermanus, make a beeline for the Walker Bay Modern Art Gallery. Soak up some fantastic local art and then find yourself being lured by heavenly scents and coffee aromas into their tranquil courtyard. This is where you’ll find The Gallery Café, a fabulous vegetarian eatery run by owner, Emilia Knight. The tucked away setting adds to its appeal along with the welcoming ambiance.
Emilia is passionate about creating and sharing wholesome, hearty food and you can literally taste the care and love in every dish. The flavours are exceptional and the portions are generous. This is food that satisfies on all levels and will have you wanting to come back for more!
Emilia’s homemade croissants are also legendary, with the most scrumptious fillings – Orange & Almond, Marmite & Cheese, Peanut butter & Nutella and “Turkish Delight” – Rose flavoured almond paste croissants, topped with dark and white chocolate, raspberries and dried rose petals.
The Gallery Café is open on weekdays and on Saturdays you’ll find Emilia at the Hermanus Country Market where she has a food stall. The Hermanus Market is another must-do and a great outing for the whole family, with live music and a kids play area. Arrive early and with an empty belly!
