Last week I had the opportunity to join Annie Wyatt on one of her Deep Cleansing Juice Detox Retreats at a beautiful guest farm in the Tulbagh valley. The entire experience was fabulous from start to finish and really quite life changing.
Annie has over 20 years experience with cleansing practices both through diet and various yogic cleansing techniques. After experimenting personally with fasting, detoxification and working with food as medicine she shares what she has learned. Annie is a wonderful host and leader, she is incredibly generous and radiates positive energy. Her passion and knowledge is aspirational.
The schedule that Annie has put together works brilliantly, our days were full and yet there was plenty of down time to reflect, read, write or even just to suntan. Brisk daily walks got our bodies moving and taking in mother nature, yoga and pilates strengthened our bodies and the breathing exercises and meditation enabled us to tune into our bodies and minds. Everything is done gently so that if you’re a newbie, you can ease into the various practises. I loved Annie’s style of teaching and her use of music in the classes.
Foodwise, everything was liquid of course and I’m sure you’re all wondering how we coped… and whether we felt ravenous all day long? The amazing thing is that not once did we feel starved, yes, from time to time there were a few hunger pangs but they come and go and it’s made easier as you know there’s always a delicious drink lined up. Each meal was incredibly nourishing and packed full of goodness. There was also a mix of cold juices and warm drinks and broths which kept us satisfied. With the portions being rationed out for us, we couldn’t overindulge – this really allows you to get in touch with your body, to listen and be aware. I realized how much I usually overeat and that I need to eat more mindfully!
To help us align our body, mind and soul and to release any energy blockages, we luckily had Iseut Collin on hand. Iseut is a holistic therapist who works with foot reflexology, acupressure, reiki, shiatsu & aromatherapy and she is happy to adapt the treatments to each person’s needs. I had two treatments and they were both phenomenal. Iseut has a strong and intuitive healing nature and is also the loveliest person!
This retreat is a MUST on so many levels. What I learnt in this short time has been invaluable and I’m excited to approach my life with a fresh outlook. It has helped me to reflect and find the answers within. I loved getting back into a yoga and meditation practice which I haven’t done for years. Thank you so much, Annie!
PS Annie runs her retreats regularly throughout the year, you can hop over here for more info and she is also going to be running two retreats in INDIA later this year which are sure to be magical. Hop over here to sign up for the Early Bird Special!
A few words from my fellow retreat goers…
It’s been emotional and fabulous, I enjoyed every day. It’s not been as easy as the other retreats but it’s been the best for me so far, big insights. Thank you Annie – Usha
It’s been a great experience, not exactly knowing what to expect, I felt better and better each day. It’s been amazing and I’m very happy that I came – Sander (who specially came out from the Netherlands!)
This has been the most life changing experience, very healing & just wonderful – Lindsey
The retreat has given me a lot of clarity, light and courage to be me and to listen to when I need to heal, love and nurture myself. I know that I have so much light to give once my life is full – Candice
